1930’s Period Country Home – East Yorkshire

What we created

This impressive 1930’s period country home, nestling in the leafy East Yorkshire village of Swanland, has stunning original leaded windows and oak doors and touches of art deco architectural features throughout. Working with high ceilings and well- proportioned large rooms, the interior design brief was to create a modern, colourful, contemporary home, still keeping some of its original identity.

The entrance hallway was taken back to a fresh neutral base with raffia textured walls to open up the space and then dressed with elegant curtains and natural flooring. For the main open plan living area of the house, statement pieces such as the iconic duck feet lamp, bold abstract patterned fabrics and a bespoke designed bookcase with leather effect inlay, all adding interest. Mixing and layering of textures and fabrics, and the use of vibrant purple and orange accents resulted in a stylish yet comfortable home for our client and her family.
